Dr. Rawlinson attended medical school at Michigan State University and was awarded his doctorate in medicine. Prior to medical school, his Bachelor’s degree in chemistry was earned at Hope College in Holland, Michigan where he graduated with honors. Dr Rawlinson performed his internship at the St. John Health System in Detroit. His ophthalmology residency was completed at Michigan State University. Dr. Rawlinson was honored for scoring in the top 1% of all physicians on his Medical Board Examination.
During his training, he wrote articles for publication in ophthalmology journals, and has made several scientific presentations at local and national meetings. Previously, Dr. Rawlinson was Assistant Professor of Surgery and Clinical Faculty for the Department of Ophthalmology at Michigan State University, mentoring ophthalmology residents. Dr. Rawlinson is currently involved with teaching medical residents and interns at St. Lucie Medical Center. He is currently a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Rawlinson’s specialized training in ophthalmology includes certification to perform LASIK VISX Vision Correction. He has surgical expertise in surface LASIK (PRK), Custom Interlase LASIK, and Astigmatic Keratotomy (AK). Additionally, he performs Cataract Extraction using no stitch/no blade. We offer all intraocular lens options including Restor toric and Multifocal, Technis toric and Multifocal, Crystalens and Trulign Crystalens.
Dr. Rawlinson selected ophthalmology as a profession because he believes vision is our most important sense and enjoys the gratification of the medical and surgical treatment of ocular diseases. He believes that excellent vision is essential for functioning and enjoying the world in which we live. Dr. Rawlinson has a special interest in facial reconstructive surgery, including Botox and facial filler injections, as well as in retinal diseases, including diabetic retinopathy and age related macular degeneration.
Dr. Rawlinson and his wife, Dr. Kelliann Rawlinson, a family practice physician, live in Jensen Beach. In their leisure time, they enjoy playing golf, tennis, traveling, and cooking.
